The Greatest LOVE Story of All Time

This is a Guest Post by someone I’d never heard of until about 30 minutes ago. My daughter Jill showed me this post and I immediately asked if she would ask the author for permission to re-post it here. Her name is Sarah Britton and I am pleased to introduce her to you.

The Greatest LOVE Story of All Time ~ by Sarah Britton

Anybody who knows me, knows I’m obsessed with stories and movies that end with the famous tagline “And they lived happily ever after.” I’m sure my girlfriends reading this can relate. And to my guy friends-even if you aren’t drawn to “chick flicks, that still doesn’t mean that the grand narrative doesn’t appeal to even the most macho among you. Like in Die Hard how it’s centered on a loving hero who wins or defends his bride and defeats his enemies in the same self-sacrifice.

My obsession with love used to disturb me, until I did some reflecting and figured out why it exists. I think there is something inside most women. It resonates with one of our deep-seeded longings to be loved and cherished. Not half-heartedly, but passionately. For somebody to pursue us. To really fight for us. To call us beloved and beautiful. We want that guy who’s going to chase after us, no matter the cost. The guy who desires us more than anything else. We want our knight in shining armor to ride up on his white horse and rescue us from a confusing world. From our own brokenness.

What I want to tell you today, is that guy already exists and His name is Jesus. When I was a little girl and I first heard about Jesus’ death on the cross, I thought, “I wish He would have escaped. I wish it wouldn’t have had to happen.” But I didn’t understand. God allowed it and it had to happen for us to be able to live forever in eternity with Him.

There was a Victory that came when the precious blood of Jesus was shed on the cross that day. No matter who you are. No matter what you’ve done. He desires you more than you could ever imagine. More than any man ever could. It’s tough sometimes to fully grasp the crazy love He has for us. But when this sinks in, you will have an overwhelming joy that fills the void that the temporary things of this life can’t. A joy that is not only present in pleasant things but also in your unwanted circumstances. A joy where when things are going your way, His gladness intensifies your delight. And when you encounter hard things, He gives you a deep, bold joy that clings to Him for help. And that my friends, is the greatest love story of all time.

No matter what, when you experience God’s love, it will motivate you to love and serve Him more. To not be just a church-going christian-but one who wants to constantly learn and journey deeper in their faith. This life here on earth is like a vapor and I share His love with you today because I want each of you to experience Heaven.

The theology by far is more important but to be able to fly to Israel, see the stable where Jesus was born, stand on the Mount of The Beatitudes where He taught to the crowds, walk the street where He carried His Cross, kneel down and literally worship at the ground where He paid the ULTIMATE sacrifice is indescribable.

It will be by far the most cherished memory of my life!

I can’t wait to be in Heaven with my First Love

where I will worship and live happily ever after with Him.
